Spa Barks Dog care tips

have you thought about Canine oral hygiene?

How to create a good oral hygiene schedule

Dogs and puppies teeth should not be forgotten about.  Just like ours teeth,  they are prone to plaque build-up which can cause

-bad breath

-bacteria

-pain and in some cases more serious concerns

Just like us, dogs may go off food if their teeth hurt or they may have much stronger smelling breath than usual (providing you have not just changed their diet) this could be an indication of a tooth or gum problem.  If worried it's always best to get a check up with your vet.

But the best cause of action is always prevention that is why  It is important to consider doing the following steps to take care of your dogs mouth and teeth as best you can:

1. Practice teeth checking - look in your dogs mouth  -taking great care. If you do this often enough you will notice any changes with their teeth, for example discolouration or cracked / broken teeth

2. Teeth cleaning -there are various products out there from doggy toothpastes to doggy toothbrushes, if you have a pup try and get in to the habit of checking the mouth regularly and brushing their teeth with specialised dog care products. If you have never brushed your dog's teeth don't worry - but you will need to introduce this new act slowly and carefully as it will be new to them, or take them to a professional.

3. You can also look out for dental chews and bones and other vet recommended tooth care support products.

By completing the steps above you can support your dog with a very good oral hygiene schedule providing them with the best possible mouth care and keeping them happy and healthy.
